    The City of Strand

This is both a city and the main UI hub. Players will be able to visit different buildings to access all the aspects of the initial Factions portion of the game, from play modes to character building and upgrading areas. You can see here such buildings as the Trophy Tower, Proving Grounds, Weavers Hut, Quarters, Mead House and the main building which is of course the Great Hall. Off in the distance is the ancient and ever looming fort, Ridgehorn. The sigil on the front gate of the city speaks to it's relationship with the cold northern ocean which is accessed by fjords.

As everything in The Banner Saga, the city will evolve as the story unfolds.

Thanks for all the responses to this! Yes, Ridgehorn is the ancient fort in the wallpaper too, it plays a prominent role in the initial Factions release. You may just see it close up...if you survive.

Are there by any chance ancient secrets inside Ridgehorn that are waiting for certain dauntless warriors to uncover?

Truly gorgeous work. It shows loving attention to detail! Makes me wonder what exactly is going on beyond those gates While seemingly inviting, it also suggests societal seclusion. A temporarily sunny serene day in the midst of normally harsh weather. Says a lot at first glance

    How is the name pronounced?
just curious if it is named after the english word strand or the scandinavian word (or something completely different )

Love it. And love that you can see more structures in the background, can't wait to explore the world of this game!

No choice but to survive then, if just to gaze upon the art.

This is simply fantastic! Would there be any chance of this turning into a wallpaper?

It will be so nice to walk around in that beautiful art.

The dimensions are a little weird. But I found that if I set it to Fit I can make it my background on my laptop without screwing with the dimensions too badly. A desktop would probably be impossible though.

Wallpaper: Right, I actually have mine as a wallpaper by just setting it to "center". I made my background black as well. Basically i'd just add black to the outside areas anyway if I made this into a wallpaper.
This weekend I'm designing the interior of the Great Hall, the building at the top of the hill.

Gorgeous. I'd love to see this sold as a poster at some point.
