Here are the things to know:

1. First, make sure you have a Stoic Community account. If you do not have one, make sure you register with the exact same email address you had when you pledged to the Kickstarter.
   
   
2. Second thing to know is that free access is currently only for those who backed The Banner Saga on Kickstarter. Stoic is accepting access via PayPal for those who did not get the opportunity to back TBS but are looking to access teh Factions beta program: http://stoicstudio.com/forum/enter-the-fray.php
   
   
3. Once you register, keep your eyes peeled for a verification email to confirm your account. Until it is confirmed, it will not upgrade. This will come from "mail@stoicstudio.com" so make sure you add it to your address book so it doesn't accidentally get put in your spam folder.
   
   
4. If you have recently registered, but do not see your name as "green" (here's an example of how it should look when you look at "My Profile" in the top navigation when logged in) or if you're having any other issue, let us know! Note the "green" colored Display Names are only for those who backed TBS on Kickstarter.
   
   
5. Beta Access is not immediate, the team generates new keys in batches. Once your account is upgraded, you will enter the queue to get a testing code. We do these often so it shouldn't take too long.
   
   
6. Once generated, you can quickly access your testing key by going to your profile and look under the "Beta Testing Information" section.
   
   
7. For more information (once you get your testing key), see this copy of the email in the forums: Congratulations! You're in [Download Instructions Included!]

how long does it typically take to receive confirmation e-mail? I am a backer ad have still not received any access key, i just found out about open beta on facebook. I would like to participate but this is very frustrating.

It usually happens within a matter of minutes but I know we're getting a lot more traffic today than usual. We went ahead and confirmed and upgraded your account (so disregard that email when you get it). You should have full access to the Kickstarter section of the Stoic Community. I'll also ask the team to generate you a testing key. Once generated, you can quickly get to it by going to your profile here:

Been watching this game for awhile, ever since you dropped the teaser video. Reminded me of those late 70s early 80s cartoon movies like The Hobbit.

Curious if we buy with the $15, how long can we expect to get an email or even a chance at testing?

Edit* Also any chance we can see a press kit or fan kit soon?

I am sort of curious as well. Don't mind a bit of a wait, but the way the payment area is labeled, sort of makes it sound as if you'd get instant access... Doesn't appear to be the case. >.>

I registered here long ago when I got the kickstarter update that said make sure you go and create your Stoic account for beta and I was never sent a confirmation email. Yes I checked the junk folder. This has possibly been weeks ago at this point.

Ideally you shouldn't have to wait at all. However, the outpouring of support today took our mail sending service over its daily limit and emails stopped going out. We have all the transactions stored in our database and logs, though, and Alex has been painstakingly going over each failed email and sending it manually.

If you have not received your email by now, then something else went wrong (sometimes the mails get eaten) -- please email us at community@stoicstudio.com and let us know you purchased Beta access but did not receive your keys. We will get them out to you ASAP!

Check out my response to wade d mcginnis, but the short story is we had a mail problem but it has now been resolved. If you still don't have your keys, please email us at community@stoicstudio.com and we will get them right out to you.
