The Shield Wall ability states that 4 axemen standing in a square formation will see all their armor increased by 4. That is incorrect, since diagonals are not considered adjacent. This leads to confusion as to whether or not diagonals are in fact considered adjacent. For an axeman to receive 4 extra armor, he must be in the middle of a T formation, not a square formation.
Thank for your time, and for a refreshingly original take on a great game genre.

They will, because each of the 4 raiders in a square formation is adjacent to 2 raiders at the same time and each one grants a+2 from the bonus. Thus, +4 in overall. The T situation you're talking about would give the central raider +6, due to being adjacent to 3 other raiders.

Oh! So Axemen get +1 armor for each ally they're adjacent to? That's not clear in the description. I was under the assumption they get +1, no matter how many allies they are adjacent to.

Yes - each ally adds +1 to raider's and own armor. To be super clear - in case of two adjacent raiders, both get +2 total, because their abilities stack.

To be more super clear - raider gets +1 armor for each adjacent ally, but also grants +1 for each adjacent ally, so with two raiders nearby a raider gets +2 for giving them shield wall and +1 from each other raider, thus resulting in +4 :P
