Has the option for Drafting your team been brought up? If not, I think it would be a fun idea to talk about. Mix it up a bit and avoid these pesky 4x builds!

Interesting idea, I like the idea of drafts in other strategy games. It would be neat to see how it worked out in Factions.

I have some thought on the subject, but i think only high-profile tournaments should include draft-mode, it is too long and complex process to go through in every single game.

Agreed, there would be options. I don't think anyone should be forced to draft. Just a game mode option. You could also have random mode, where your whole team is randomed. Variety is the spice of life!

Draft mode assumes some sort of "pack" to pick from. There is no such thing in banner factions so how would you go about drafting? Random units? That would not work imo. There are also usually no restrictions on deck composition (like 2x varl limit). That would also be a big problem in this game imo.

Vex, i proposed slightly modified draft. You have
a) Usual restrictions on team composition
b) On any pick you can pick any unit(so your "pack" is all units) - it is more like LoL and DotA drafting than MTG drafting

Ah I see. I never played LoL or DotA (do not even know what Dota stands for). So I am unfamiliar with what they do for drafts. To me drafts have always been about pack play.

Drafting has been discussed at length in the past. here (http://stoicstudio.com/forum/showthread.php?785-A-different-way-to-build-teams&highlight=draft) and here (http://stoicstudio.com/forum/showthread.php?711-What-do-you-guys-think-about-a-draft-mode&highlight=draft) from the beta section. But I grabbed Alex's response from 1/21/13:

We considered this idea early on, especially for something like a ladder tournament where you may want to switch up your team as your go along. It turned into all sorts of ideas about having one unit in a "hotseat" that you could switch out, or switching between presets at certain times. It all sounded interesting but the bottom line turned out to be that the game is already waaaaay too complex for a lot of people, and we didn't want to make it even a little bit more confusing.

That said, we're going to consider more stuff like this in the future as we continue to expand the game. Maybe for something like Tournaments? We shall see.
