Our first live Beta build!

Known Issues:


Slow performance on many machines. This is due to unoptimized graphics. We will be addressing this going forward. We don't necessarily need to hear what your performance levels are right now, but we would like to hear about performance changes (better or worse) as we release new builds.
Battle mis-matches. Sometimes you find a match and enter the battle, only to see an empty battleground. Often, you are unable to exit the battle and must exit the entire game client.
Steam connectivity. Sometimes, when logging in, you see the debug login page. You'll see it because it is dark blue and looks like programmer art.
The "Players Online: " text on the Versus page sometimes cuts off the number.
Some battle tiles don't show up, typically related to where you deployed your party.
Crashes on startup on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (maybe all 10.6.x)

Build 1.2.6 Release Notes


added Strand, Great Hall, and Proving Grounds screens
fix for missing battle board tiles after deployment
performance optimizations during battle board, particularly while panning the camera
improved logging of unplanned exits to track down Windows XP startup issue
modified compiler options to be more friendly to Mac OS X 10.6.x
chat window is now available on the battle resolution screen
chat window now displays the name of your opponent at the start of battle
fix to disable hotkeys while typing in chat
fix for tempest incorrectly showing corner unit tiles as targetable
versus screen now shows correct number of players online
battles that suffer divergence now show an error dialog immediately rather than continuing
versus now tries to match you against an opposing party of equal power, and slowly opens the power window to a difference of 30 power over 20 seconds. Party power is shown to the right of your party in the proving grounds.
battle info bar now shows information about the selected target when it is not your turn
added new GUI sounds and special ability sounds
added bodyfall foley sounds on death
added foley sound for provoker idle
added countdown sound when turn or deployment is about to run out of time
fix battle Ready button for deploy appearing too early. This was causing issues if it was clicked too soon
fix for entering an empty battle and being unable to see your units or start playing
fix for battle action hotkeys (1,2,3,4) causing errors near end of turn
fix for battle action hotkeys causing popup menu to briefly appear
fix for attack mode sometimes showing adjacent enemies out of range and zero damage potential after a move
enlarged deployment zones so you can deploy further back from the front lines if desired
updated the boats graphics in the background of the battle scene
all character classes stat ranges balanced and updated
replaced info flags over characters' heads with more compact version
steam names now update properly in game when changed in steam


Known Issues:

Black screen is still an issue on Win XP. We now have an XP machine in the office to help troubleshoot the problem.
Sound and music has stopped working for some PCs. This is high priority for us.
Divergences may still happen on occasion. Instead of continuing to play and seeing things get progressively more broken you will now be kicked out of a match immediately when a divergence happens (A divergence is when one player sees something different from the other player).
Stats in the Proving Grounds don't have names next to them (or tooltips atm).

Build 1.2.7 Release Notes

Fix for Windows sound and music issue



Known Issues:

Chat

Text rows spacing is expanded and fixed
Text now supports full international font sets

Deployment:

Units now auto deploy to the back row
Initiative slots now highlight when you click on the corresponding unit
Units always start inside the valid deployment area -- no more 'staging area'
Units that aren't manually deployed stay where they are when you hit Ready

Battle:

Return the Favor is no longer trigged by Rain of Arrows
Return the Favor visual reaction delay is reduced
Fix alignment of Heavy Impact particle to the ground level

New Features:

Promotion eligibility of units now based on Kills (10 Kills for Rank 1)
Renown Bonuses

Expert Mode: 30 Second timer in Versus. +1 bonus renown per battle
Win Streak Bonus: earn +1 bonus renown per battle when you are on a win streak >= 3 wins
Daily Login Streak: +1 bonus renown per battle, for a number of daily battles equal to the length of your login streak.
Friend Mode: +6 renown the first time you battle each friend
Underdog: +1 renown if your opponent's power is 6 or more higher than yours
These will all be represented in the Battle Resolution Screen in the next build


Changes:

Chat and other in-game messaging made more responsive
Tuned Archer foley sounds
Added new 'Sting' sound for Bowmaster Bird of Prey
Great Hall Map: Shrunk length of firepit by 1 tile on each end

Bug Fixes

Build 1.5.35 Release Notes

Bug Fixes:

Friend Lobby: Fixed inability to chat after depressing Ready button
Sound: Shieldbanger idle shield banging sound fixed
Pillage: When pillage starts, the pillaged unit should always have the next turn
Heavy Impact: In some cases, heavy impact could cause problems when initiating Pillage
Burning Coals: Burning coals only damage a unit once per tile per turn.
Hall of Valor: Selected page defaults to "Over All Ranking" rather than "Best Win Streak"

Changes:

Added environmental snow to Proving Grounds page
Slag and Burn:

Now deals immediate explosive damage and leaves tiles of burning coals behind
The immediate damage to the center tile is 1 STR + ARMOR BREAK
The 4 adjacent tiles damage 1 STR each
Each unit only takes damage once from the explosion. For instance, a Varl overlapping the center tile and 2 adjacent tiles takes only the center damage.
The explosion leaves behind 2 tiles of burning coals, on unoccupied tiles only. These act as normal burning coals, and remain for 1 full round.


New Features

Lore/Promotion: Random name button generates new names on the fly
Options: Options menu now present on Stand upper left corner
Fire Tower: Added Quit Game confirmation dialog
Tutorial:

The tutorial can be tested with the chat command /shell tutorial
The tutorial consists of the following steps:

A battle against the chieftain and his men

Proving Grounds
Promotion
Strand

The Intro Videos are placeholders. They can be skipped with the ESCAPE key.
Please let us know if you find a way to break the flow of the tutorial. It needs to be bulletproof or new players will get frustrated and leave.

Marketplace:

The Marketplace allows you to purchase renown, upgrades, variations, units, boosts, and other unlockable features. It can be accessed by clicking the Marketplace tents in Strand, or on any of the large Renown banners in the upper right corner of some pages. Currently, the Marketplace is in SANDBOX Mode, meaning that no real money changes hands. You can use the Marketplace freely to purchase things. The Marketplace will remind you of this each time you purchase, by displaying a dialog box. Steam will present you with an authorization dialog, and send you a receipt email just like a real transaction, except no money is actually deducted. When we switch out of SANDBOX Mode, the in-game SANDBOX dialog will no longer be shown. We will also message this clearly on the boards when the time comes.
Items in the Marketplace:

Launch Special: 4 Promoted Units, Renown, and a Roster Row
Rally Boosts: Bonus renown per battle
Renown: Renown purchases in various amounts
Variations: Unlock all variations for each advanced class (Raidmaster, etc...)
Variations: unlock all variations for each group of advanced classes (Raider, etc...)

Since the Marketplace must be absolutely bug free and reliable, and is so critical to our success, we ask you to please test it thoroughly and report any issues you find!

Variations:

You can now choose between 3 different variations per unit. Variations can be chosen during promotion, or via the Lore page in the Proving Grounds. The first of the variations is free. The second variation can be purchased with renown. Once a variation is purchased, you can freely switch to it on that unit at any time. The third variation can be unlocked via the Marketplace. Once a variation is unlocked, you can freely switch to it on all applicable units at any time.


Known Issues:

Mac OSX Steam Overlay only works every other launch of the game
Tutorial tooltip persists in Mead House after tutorial finishes
Purchasing Boost in Marketplace does not display SANDBOX Mode notification
