Choose the time you think would best suit tournament play.

Personally, I feel that 30 sec generates careless play. Only a true master could play well at that time.

Maybe two tournaments, in parallel, each week. One at 60 and... If there weren't the risk of lagginess, I'd want to see an even more blitz-chess pace, like 20 seconds per move or 8 minutes per player (you know, like chess).

How would you know where to draw the line, though? You could make the same argument with 60 seconds, and if you oppose that, with what do you back it up? There's nothing to objectively indicate that one minute is enough for a good decision, or 30 seconds too little. Learning to make good decisions quickly and thinking ahead should be rewarded in my opinion.

I voted for 30 seconds and I'm in agreement with the above poster.

Sure it can be fun to play a very tidy game - but I enjoy the thought that he who can think quickest within the confines should be the winner. It may be a turn based game but I think a full minute is very generous.

You guys make valid points, and I know Arnie loves 30 sec. I guess it's just a different style of play to learn. I'll just have to suck it up!

5 second twitch-speed tournament, for the lulz.

I DO like the speed of the overall games...nice and quick. I'll just have to drink more coffee!
