When I am trying to play the Banner Saga, I will get system warnings that my CPU is starting to overheat.
OS
Windows 7 64-bit
CPU
AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight Core Processor
MB
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Other
32Gb Corsair RAM
AMD Radeon HD7970
More fans than you can shake a big stick at, with fan controls updated from Silent (works for everything else) to Turbo. I've even taken the system apart to get every bit of dust out of there & verified that all the fans are working, that the airways are clear & that there are no conflicts between air input & output.
That's way beyond recommended specifications for the game & I've never had an issue with any other game/application (Total War: Rome II, Civ V, Warframe, Batman Arkham Origins, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, etc), yet within about 5 minutes of playing the Banner Saga, the CPU temperature will reach 65 degrees C (when the ASUS AI Suite II tools will start with the warnings). This seems to happen when in a fight, though whether that is something to do with the fight itself, or just that within about 5 minutes of playing, I tend to be in a fight, I am not certain.
I have updated every driver on the system, from RAID drivers to motherboard drivers, graphics to network, but without making any difference. I am not over-clocking on any part of the system.
Other programs running at the time;
Steam (my access to the Banner Saga)
AVAST! Anti-virus
ASUS AI Suite II (system monitoring tools)
AMD Catalyst Control Centre (graphics tools)
Razer Advance Driver Control (mouse)
I am not having problems at any other time & shouldn't have any problems with running The Banner Saga, yet I do. Any ideas, because as far as I can tell, I have eliminated every possible problem from my specific system, so the only thing left that I can think of is something to do with the game itself?
