Game On Austin - Thursday, October 25th, 2012

What are you doing on Thursday? Maybe going to work or school (or both)? Probably so. But, what are you doing Thursday night? Well, if you're in Austin, you should be going to Game On Austin!

To the average player, video games might appear to be created in some ethereal internet plane and dropped into stores or onto the web. What they don't realize is there's an established and growing local game development scene on par with that of local music and film. GAME ON AUSTIN invites local individuals and studios to showcase their work to the public. The goal is to give Austinites a chance to interact with art being made around them without the stuffiness and cost of a conference. In years past the event has featured popular titles as well as independent developers showing off more casual and experimental games, and this year will be no different with new and unreleased titles scattered around the Beauty Ballroom. Prepare to Game On.

And who may be some of these local game devs? What about Arkane Studio, Rocksauce Studios, Big Men Games, Tiger Style Games, Deep Plaid Games, Notion Games, GL33k, White Whale Games, and... who am I forgetting? Oh yeah, Stoic will be there with The Banner Saga! Did I mention it's free? And in case that isn't reason enough (even though it is), there will be free pizza... while it lasts! So show up early!

When and where is all this going down? This Thursday, October 25th, 2012 from 6 - 9pm at the Beauty Ballroom (2015 E. Riverside, Austin, Texas 78741).

Want to see who else might be going? Then get on the Facebook Event: Game On Austin.

    Hope to see you there!

Oh, I didn't know Arkane was in Austin as well. They did a great job with Dishonored.

Same here, I didn't know they had another studio apart from the one in France. Hope you guys have a good time, it seems nice.

Hm, a few thousands of kilometers might be a little much to come for free pizza, but I would have if I was nearer.

Stoic had lunch with a bunch of guys from Arkane who were backers of TBS,just before they shipped Dishonored. We gave them their rewards and they gave us some awesome swag like shirts, posters and the best of all, an awesome rubber mask. Very cool guys, we're really glad they're doing so well!

It's pretty creepy! Although, check out this one that is REAL.

Game On Austin was awesome and a great success. We saw lots of our game dev friends there, and LOTS of people got to sit down and play hands-on at the game. We had big crowds waiting to play! And people were able to just sit down and figure it out, so we could see our weeks of UI redesign really paying off.

that mask is actually really tight and looks like a good gift. I wish I could get paid in masks.
you're indifferent to suffering, insensitive to joy. All of life is reduced to the common rubble of banality. War, murder, death are all the same to you as bottles of beer. The daily business of life is a corrupt comedy. You even shatter the sensations of time and space into split-seconds and instant replays. You are madness, Diana, virulent madness, and everything you touch dies with you. Well, not me. Not while I can still feel pleasure and pain and love.

Game On! was crazy fun. I wish they had allowed more time for you guys to tell people about it. It was like a pop-up indie premiere with Dishonored dropping in as the A-list celebrity. Banner Saga looked great!

Now you just need to get a drink at your favorite beer garden with the mask on.
