If you were a Backer from Kickstarter, you may also want to ensure your Stoic Community profile is properly updated to denote your fantastic contribution to The Banner Saga. If so, this is what you need to know:

1. First, make sure you have a Stoic Community account. If you do not have one, make sure you register with the exact same email address you had when you pledged to the Kickstarter.
   
2. Once you register, keep your eyes peeled for a verification email to confirm your account. Until it is confirmed, it will not upgrade. This will come from "mail@stoicstudio.com" so make sure you add it to your address book so it doesn't accidentally get put in your spam folder.
   
   
3. If you have recently registered, but do not see your name as "green" (here's an example of how it should look when you look at "My Profile" in the top navigation when logged in) or if you're having any other issue, let us know! Note the "green" colored Display Names are only for those who backed TBS on Kickstarter.

Once you have your game code, follow these instructions to activate The Banner Saga: Factions on Steam:

1. Launch Steam and log into your Steam account.
2. Click the Games Menu.
3. Choose Activate a Product on Steam...
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.

Can't find your key? It should look like this (edit profile link):

I registered a while back, but just got around to participating in the Factions Beta. I've read the instructions in "The official "How do I get into Factions?!!!111!!!" thread but do not show a Beta Testing Information section in my profile which includes a Steam Key. Is it possible this can be added?

I registered my account back in October, and my name shows up in green so I think the forum knows I'm a Kickstarter backer, but I've never gotten any beta keys/invites. What can I do to get in on this fun?

Your account looks to have upgraded just fine; the issue is that you just recently registered after the last batch of game keys for Faction were assigned. I'll also ask the team to generate you a game key. Once generated, you can quickly get to it by going to your profile here:

Looks like you're all set up now (I see you as "Green"). The team is running and assigning new codes pretty regularly so hopefully you should see yours by lunch (CST) today!

Doesn't matter if you backed via PayPal, a Backer is a Backer! As you can see, your account is also "Green" so while I don't see a game code in your account yet, you should see it shortly!

You hit the nail on the head. Access to Factions is currently not automatic. The team generates keys prety often so you should see one assigned to you Soon(TM). Once generated, you can quickly get to it by going to your profile here:

I'm having trouble activating the game. I'm a backer, but I have never used the forums (until now). However, I followed the guide and registered with the email that I used for kickstarter. But I never received an email with a steam activation code. I’ve checked my spam filter and it’s not in there either.. Please help, I really would like to play the game 

It looks like your Stoic Community account was never confirmed via the verification email. We went ahead and confirmed and upgraded your account since we can just use your emailing us as verification that your email address does exist as well as for your Backer status. You should have full access to the Kickstarter section of the Stoic Community. I'll also ask the team to generate you a game key.
